I chose to attend the Chardin Anthropology club because it seemed interesting to me to learn about the study of humans, and I have also been fascinated with different cultures. My feelings towards this experience were that I thought I would learn different things about anthropology and what kind of opportunities there are in the field. This past meeting, we watched an ethnographic film about some people performing a religious dance ceremony in Bali, Indonesia. I thought that the film was alright. The film did not really interest me because it was old, in black and white, and was kind of boring, but hopefully there are going to be other aspects of anthropology that I will enjoy. I will still continue to go to the general meetings to see if I would be interested in studying the field, and to see if I would consider majoring in it. There are other activities to look forward to, considering there are tours of different museums within Chicago that we can attend with the Chardin Anthropology club. I think it would be cool to learn the aspects of culture in a behind-the-scenes way at a museum, that way, we'll actually learn more information and the history about it. Another activity that I attended was going to the stress management workshop. I wanted to attend this workshop so that I would know how to deal with all the papers and stress piling up at the same time, and when I would have time to study for my classes. I was thinking to myself as to how I would survive the semester with all this stress, but the workshop really helped me take a step back and realize that everything was going to be fine. It reminded me a lot about the discussion in UNIV 101 when we discussed how to manage our time. The amount of time that you have to work on something influences the amount of stress that you have. I went to this workshop so that it would help me understand how to cope and deal with stress. They gave me some tips on how to cope with stress like how not to procrastinate or have distractions when trying to do homework. I felt like it was worth my time to attend this workshop. In the future, I hope to become a more productive person when it comes to accomplishing my goals and homework. I hope that this workshop really pays off in the near future, and hope that I become a better student. Overall, both these experiences have connected me more to Loyola, and in the near future I will attend more activities and events so that I can meet new people, and just enjoy myself.
